Great job to all the families who participated in our first Healthy Meal Challenge for the last three weeks! We hope that you have had fun with your family creating meals and coming together as a family to share…

Great job to all the families who participated in our first Healthy Meal Challenge for the last three weeks! We hope that you have had fun with your family creating meals and coming together as a family to share the experience of dinnertime.

In week 4 we would like to connect the dots between the importance of the dinnertime experience in living a healthy, active lifestyle. When parents and kids have a long, tiring, and stressful day sometimes the last thing that everyone wants to do is sit down and have dinner. Making time for dinner is critical in setting consistency, creating good eating habits and raising healthy successful kids.

This week we want to give families some tips and tools on how to get past the power struggles and arguments that may arrive at dinner and make dinner an experience the whole family can enjoy.

We would love to know how you made dinnertime an experience with your family this week. Did you make a themed dish or did you just have great conversation with the whole family at the table?

Have fun this week and we look forward to sharing your dinnertime stories.

Happy Eating!
The Team at ZisBoomBah

The Great Partners of Time can not compare to the PARTNERS combination.

Marian, Cara and Greg

The mother, Marian, and her two children, Cara and Greg, started this company in the Winter of 1992, but the crackers were made long before that.

In 1972, Marian founded a restaurant with 2 other women. Blazing a trail in the womens revolution, these “girls” set out to provide quality food to the business men of downtown Seattle.

After 8 years, Marian had bought out her partners and was running a very successful operation. Famous for its baked goods and fabulous soups, the crackers were one of many ideas created in the ’70′s. By the time she “retired” from the restaurant business in 1989, Marian had refined and stockpiled hundreds of recipes.

Two of those recipes are currently produced by PARTNERS, a tasteful choice company, the crackers and the granola. The PARTNERS, a tasteful cracker were an immediate hit. In the first day of selling them, Marian loaded up her cute baskets with these handmade beauties and took them to the local stores. After visiting 8 stores all over the city and with aching feet, Marian made the long trek by ferry boat back to Vashon Island. When she arrived home there were 7 orders on the answering machine. The business had begun.

Immediately realizing that she needed help, she roped her son, Greg, into “helping for two weeks”! Two weeks turned into two months, then two years and time continues to tick.

After 6 months and thousands of pounds of crackers, Cara, Marian’s daughter joined the show. After passing the Bar and becoming a full fledged attorney, Cara was convinced to use her skills to help run the company until she got a full time legal job. She decided within three months that the cracker world was where she belonged.

Three years after the crackers were a huge success, Marian got the itch to create and Wisecrackers ® were the next logical step. A low fat cracker with great taste. R&D hours were spent honing this cracker to the right degree of crispy, crunchy and taste. The awards have shown that Marian got it right!

One year later, the second stage of the company was started. Granola The granola made at the restaurant was always such a success that it just had to be done. There was nothing on the store shelves that even compared. The family had to have it, and apparently the public did too. In 1997, PARTNERS Gourmet Granola hit the shelves. Numerous awards for the three flavors have shown that this is a quality granola with great taste and crunch and climbing sales keep us baking.

More new items are on their way, and the story is unfinished. When will the creative genius stop…. Never!

Remember, PARTNERS products are from our family to you!

At The Children’s Hospital, we see more, treat more and heal more kids than any hospital in our seven-state region. We’re experienced and forward-thinking when it comes to the latest methods for diagnosis and treatment. This translates into less invasive treatment, less time and less stress on you and your children. Since we are always pioneering new ways of curing childhood diseases, your child will receive the most effective care years before it may become available at other hospitals. We are doing everything we can to help you get your child healthy and home faster than at any other hospital.

Our specially-trained pediatric experts recognize that families are our partners, which is why we deliver family-centered care. By making the hospital very family-friendly, we make it easier for parents and siblings to be involved in the day-to-day medical, emotional and social needs of their child.

Our hospital at I-225 and Colfax on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora was designed and built to enhance our care for kids. Using data from an innovative type of study called evidence-based design, everything about our hospital was built to help us speed kids to recovery. From 100% private patient rooms to healing color therapy and views of nature, every detail of The Children’s Hospital was built to help kids get better faster and reduce stress on the whole family.

Our Mission

When it was founded in 1908 in Denver, Colorado, The Children’s Hospital set out to be a leader in providing the best healthcare outcomes for children. That calling has consistently made us one of the top 10 children’s hospitals in the nation and a place parents across the Rocky Mountain region have come to trust. For 2008, the America’s Best Hospitals report published by U.S. News & World Report ranked us as the 7th best hospital for kids.
